Intrafish, a highly-respected global media organization which includes a family of online and print publications covering the seafood industry, announced Demone as its award winner in the April edition of Seafood International magazine, and on its website.

“It’s a great personal honor to receive this award from such a highly-regarded media organization as Intrafish,” said Demone, who was appointed president of National Sea Products, the company that became High Liner Foods, in 1989. “I’m fortunate to be surrounded by a group of amazing and hard-working people who make High Liner such a strong organization, and who share the credit for this award.”

It highlights industry leaders that not only work to build a positive strong business or organization, but who also strive to improve the health, reputation and sustainability of the global seafood industry. The award recognizes business excellence and personal integrity.

In an article accompanying the announcement, Intrafish Media Executive Editor John Fiorillo wrote: “Henry Demone is authentic. He is approachable, always willing to share his knowledge, and he is humble.”

Demone was specifically recognized for his leadership in improving High Liner’s financial performance despite increasing raw materials prices and a challenging global economy. Intrafish credited Demone with overseeing High Liner’s continued product innovations, including the ground-breaking FireRoasters™ line of flame-seared seafood which is now being sold through High Liner’s U.S. foodservice arm, Fishery Products International, and in the U.S. retail channel under the Sea Cuisine™ brand. In addition, Intrafish cited Demone’s leadership on seafood sustainability, including High Liner’s commitment to source from only certified sustainable or responsible sources by the end of 2013, and its sponsorship of the February 2011 Seafood Summit in Vancouver, B.C.
