High Liner Foods Launches South Paws™ Hush Puppy Coated Seafood
New product line from Icelandic® Seafood foodservice brand uses authentic, Southern comfort-style recipe
A hush puppy is a popular, traditional side dish of the South, often served with seafood, that’s made from cornmeal batter and is fried or baked into a crispy, golden brown ball or sphere shape.
South Paws puts appetizing seafood, in a variety of species and portion sizes, inside High Liner’s genuine hush puppy coating system, blended with a hint of sweet onion, to create a seafood original.
South Paws offers operators a versatile set of menu applications, from appetizers to entrees, allowing them to differentiate themselves from their competition with a unique flavor style that’s on-trend and convenient. MonkeyDish, published by CSP Business Media, LLC, named “southern comfort foods” one of its top restaurant menu trends in 2012.
“Chefs are increasingly taking culinary inspiration from traditional, Southern comfort foods,” said Jim Papadakis, Icelandic Seafood Brand Manager. “South Paws capitalizes on this trend. Operators who put South Paws on their menu are serving their customers a delicious option that’s both distinct and familiar, and available in multiple options to please many different customer tastes.”
South Paws includes the following products: Striped pangasius fillet portion (1-2 oz or 2-3 oz average piece weight), shrimp (31-35 ct. per lb), popcorn shrimp (83-111 ct. per lb), Alaska pollock nuggets (0.6 oz) and flounder fillets (4-5 oz).
High Liner is offering a series of operator rebates and promotions related to its South Paws Hush Puppy Coated Seafood line, including menu allowances ranging from $50 to $150 for featuring South Paws products and logo on their menus.
